Zella Johnson was appointed the Youth Council Advisor. During the past month, Ms. Johnson, the Youth Council Committeem and the Youth Council Officers have implemented a new image, informative monthly programs, and community outreach programs. The Youth Council has its own Publication thats comes out quarterly. Newsletter has its own publication that comes out quarterly. Their vision is to develop a New Generation of Leadership.

American Diabetes Association 5K Walk, Shoreline Park, Long Beach
The Youth Council has registered to participate in the American Diabetes Association's Step Out: Walk to Fight Diabetes. Our goal is to raise $2000.00 in donations. The funds we raise will support the research, education, and advocacy efforts of the American Diabetes Association.

General Membership Meeting - College Admission Workshop
This workshop is designed to empower youths and parents about the college admission process. College advisors will discuss vital information about college admission such as, the difference between early admission and regular admission, admission strategies, scholarships, and the college acceptance process.
Students attending this workshop should bring: a list of six universities they are interested in attending, undergraduate freshman admission requirements (GPA, SAT scores, application fee), and the admission deadline for the six universities. This information is on the college and university website.
