Long Beach Branch NAACP is a part of the city wide Read One Book Committee.

This committee of community representatives has selected Zorro by Isabel Allende for the 2011 tenth anniversary book selection.

The Long Beach Branch NAACP is proud to recognize member Wini Williams Carter, a NAACP 31st Founder Honoree and NAACP Outstanding Woman of the Year. Wini Carter will celebrate 93 years on this earth. Ms. Carter is very productive and active. She validates the adage that age is merely a number.

Studying for the LSAT and researching Law Schools
Leslie served as a graduate Administrative Assistant Intern to both the Long Beach Branch and President
Ian Bruce Ian Bruce, Continuing Scholar, Student at Long Beach City College
Ian graduated from Poly High School and is an outstanding musician .
Ian represented the Long Beach Branch NAACP as a student musician.
at the 2011 Image Award Preshows.
Morgan Butler Morgan Butler, Renaissance High School
Morgan is from the Butler Family of Long Beach and granddaughter of Helene Cummings. The Butler Family is very active with the Long Beach Branch NAACP.
She plans to attend Holy Names University.
Ernesto Daniel Bustinza Ernesto Daniel Bustinza, Millikan High School
Ernesto has a perfect 4.0 GPA and finds the time to volunteer many hours organizing Christmas parties for homeless children in and around his neighborhood. He plans to attend UCLA to study Business Economics.
Emily Pearson, Renaissance High School
She has been a part of the Long Beach Youth Program since she was five years old. She is currently the President of the Long Beach Branch Youth Council and has served as the President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer.
She plans to attend Long Beach City College and study Nursing. Emily Pearson, from the Long Beach Branch NAACP, was one of the "30 young women under 30 years of age" that were honored by Assembly Woman Bonnie Lowenthal. Emily Pearson, Long Beach Branch NAACP ACT-SO Team Member won Bronze in the area of Business in the category of Entrepreneurship. This description of the category is defined as owning, organizing, and managing your own business by providing a necessary product or service.

 

Long Beach Branch NAACP member, Peggy Trotter Dammond Preacely, is included in the Southern California Freedom's Sisters honored by the Museum of Tolerance.

Emily Pearson, from the Long Beach Branch NAACP, was one of the "30 under 30 young women" that was honored by Assembly Woman Bonnie Lowenthal.

 

 


Thandizar Easley, Poly High School music student was selected as the 2011 Outstanding Stay-in-School and Talent Search Student of the Year.  Thandizar has performed at many NAACP events and was selected to perform for the 2011 NAACP Image Awards Pre-Gala.


 

The Long Beach Branch NAACP participated in the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Interfaith Celebration. ACT-SO student Elijah Joubert, performed at the celebration. The Branch also participated in the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Parade.

Devondre Logan. Devondre attends Jordan High School and is a leader in the Jordan Male Academy.  He plans to attend a Community College in the Fall of 2012 to study Criminal Justice with the ambition to be a Probation Officer.
