Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., inspired all of us to dream and to fight, nonviolently, for equality and justice . He said that he didn’t want a long funeral or mention of his Nobel Peace Prize or the hundreds of awards he had received. Instead, he stated, “I’d like somebody to mention that Martin Luther King, Jr. tried to give his life serving others…tried to love somebody…tried to feed the hungry…to clothe those who were naked…to visit those who were in prison…tried to love and serve humanity… Say that I was a drum major for justice, a drum major for peace, a drum major for righteousness.”
The Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial was opened October 16, 2011, on the 16th Anniversary of the Million Man March on the National Mall. |

Amicus Curie Brief
The Long Beach Branch NAACP voted to support the Amicus Curiae Brief in Support of 6th Circuit Overturning Michigan's Proposal 2 Anti- Affirmative Action Proposition.
We cannot let the best chance we have at reversing Proposition 209 pass us by, and not do everything in our power to take advantage of the momentum we have going into the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals hearing on February 13, 2012 in San Francisco. Thanks to BAMN and its attorneys, Prop 209 clone Michigan’s Proposal 2 went down to defeat in the 6th Circuit Court of Appeals, and is now before the full court.
